Granny AI Agent Wastes Scammers Time

An AI bot named Daisy, designed to mimic a confused grandmother. Developed by O2, Daisy engages with scammers by wasting their time through humorous and nonsensical conversations. She chats about knitting patterns, recipes for scones, and expresses confusion about technology, often asking questions like, "Did you say pastry?" This playful demeanor frustrates the fraudsters, who become exasperated as they try to take control of her computer. Daisy is trained on actual scam calls, allowing her to understand the tactics used by fraudsters and keep them on the line for extended periods. Although the project is not intended for widespread deployment, it aims to raise awareness about the prevalence of scams and the potential of artificial intelligence in fraud prevention. The initiative highlights the growing use of AI across various industries to detect and combat fraudulent activities.
